Wrap Your Rainbow FAQs
Why is this limited to the Columbia, SC, area?
The focus of Naomi's Circle is on sharing local resources with local bereaved parents. We would love to see this spread to other communities; however, we want not only to bless someone materially, but to connect them with other parents who can support them on their journey. Therefore, we are sharing these rainbow wraps with moms where we have an in-person Naomi's Circle group. If a Naomi's Circle group begins in another geographic area, we would be happy to help them set up a Wrap Your Rainbow program in their local area.
Why are you only loaning out wraps and ring slings, and not other carriers?
For liability reasons, we don't want to loan a carrier that could fail. The more complicated the carrier (i.e. straps, buckles), the more things could go wrong in the carrier. A woven wrap is nothing more than a long strip of fabric, so there is nothing to break. We are only loaning out wraps from reputable makers of woven wraps who comply with the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act, so we know the fabric itself is safe and sturdy enough for baby wearing. The safety will be guaranteed, however, by the wrapping abilities of the one wearing the baby.
I'm expecting in six months. Why can't I apply for a wrap now?
We want you to get the maximum use possible out of this. We will be offering a new wrap for loan every three months. Please apply when you are closer to your baby's birth. :)
Why is this limited to babies under a year old?
Woven wraps can be used from the newborn stage through toddlerhood, but one of the best times, especially if you are new to babywearing, is in the first year of a baby's life, before they are walking and more mobile. Also, the first year of a rainbow baby's life can be an emotional time for a parent; we want to bless you especially during those precious and bittersweet months.
Why do you have a restriction against smoking?
We restrict these to non-smoking environments because the smell of tobacco smoke is extremely difficult to remove from a woven wrap. This is on loan to you and will be shared with other parents in the future. Besides, your baby will be healthier if he or she is in a smoke-free environment as well!
How can I learn about babywearing?
