Evan by Liz Navarette (for a friend)
I don't know what to say;
I don't know how to say it,
To express my greatest sympathy
in this moment of sadness.
I cannot begin to understand
this situation you now face;
to continue on with this life without him beside you today.
I pray that God may comfort you,
that His love will carry you through,
that He'll wipe away your tears
as you remember last year,
that He'll be right there by your side;
in His wings you can hide
til you meet again across the sky.
Words cannot express to you
my sadness when I heard the news.
It is so hard to believe that you have had to endure such grief;
more each hour, more each day, barely able just to pray.
Now you feel so alone and wish he could come home.
Life seems so unfair; why do these things happen?
This must feel like your own 9-11.
When you're 90, all might be waiting;
not at his age, he should be staying.
He is my brother, my son, my friend;
I never thought all this would end.
One day you will meet again
across the gates of heaven.
That is our hope until then.
Across the sky where there's no end.
I don't know how to say it,
To express my greatest sympathy
in this moment of sadness.
I cannot begin to understand
