- While we do not condone the concept or practice of cloning, we believe children created by cloning are human beings. We do not in any way condone ending a pregnancy except in those rare situations (such as ectopic pregnancy) when it would cost the lives of both mother and child to continue it.
- We recognize that there are some medical diagnoses where a woman may be encouraged by her doctor to terminate her pregnancy because of the baby’s condition. However, as stated above, we do not support terminating a pregnancy except in those few extreme situations, such as ectopic pregnancy, where continuing the pregnancy would truly threaten the life of the mother; furthermore, we applaud those parents who courageously choose to carry a baby to term, even when a medical diagnosis offers no hope for the baby’s life beyond birth, and sometimes does not even offer hope of a live birth.
- However, we also do not condemn parents who make a difficult decision to do so in these situations. It is our desire to respond to one another with love, prayer, and support in these tragic situations, not judgment.
- We also recognize that women who have made the choice in the past to have an abortion for other reasons often do so under intense pressure and in many ways are as much a victim as their baby is. Anyone who has undergone an abortion in the past is welcome here and is welcome at the foot of the Cross, where Jesus’ forgiveness extends to all, no matter what is in your past.
