Little One
by Gilda Bocock
Little one, little one
I never saw your face.
I never heard you cry.
I never got to hold you close.
For just a few short months you grew
Deep in the heart of me.
Then the Father who giveth and taketh
Took you home.
I know the Father gave you a name -
It's written in the Book of Life
And someday I'll see you, my child
When we're both in the Father's arms.
How my heart was broken
At your loss, little one.
So many cruel words spoken
By friends who just wanted to help.
They just couldn't understand
What your loss meant to me.
They couldn't understand grief
For a baby I never did see.
But I know the Father gave you a name -
It's written in the Book of Life
And someday I'll see you, my child
When we're both in the Father's arms.
Safe and warm in our Father's arms.
Up in heaven with the Father.
Safe in His arms.
